Leadership & Governance
The Idlewild Community Chamber is guided by leadership committed to strengthening Idlewild’s economic vitality while honoring its legacy as Black Eden.
As a chamber-style economic development program operating under Idlewild Community Alliance 1912, the Chamber maintains transparent and community-rooted leadership.
Interim Board Structure
At this time, the Chamber’s interim official board oversight is being operated by way of Youth Community Agency (YCA), ensuring strong nonprofit governance, financial accountability, and administrative stability during the Chamber’s foundational phase.
This interim structure allows the Chamber to:
Establish policies and procedures
Launch programming and membership
Build a strong and representative board
Ensure alignment with community-centered economic development goals
The next official Board of Directors cycle will begin following the current recruitment period.
Now Accepting Board of Directors Applications
We are currently seeking applicants to fill two founding Board of Directors positions. Applications will remain open until April 24, 2026.
Open Positions
This role will help guide business-focused initiatives, partnerships, and economic activation efforts.
1. Director of Economic & Business Development
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting business recruitment and engagement
Advising on markets, vendor opportunities, and programming
Assisting with local partnership development
Contributing to economic strategy planning
Ideal for: small business owners, nonprofit leaders, economic development professionals, or entrepreneurs.
2. Director of Community Engagement & Beautification
This role will help ensure the Chamber remains deeply connected to Idlewild’s residents, legacy voices, and revitalization efforts.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting beautification and revitalization initiatives
Encouraging resident participation and collaboration
Strengthening communication between community members and Chamber leadership
Contributing to placemaking and destination-building efforts
Ideal for: Idlewild residents, community advocates, nonprofit leaders, or individuals passionate about preserving and improving Idlewild.
Eligibility Requirements
Board applicants must meet at least one of the following:
Be an Idlewild resident
Own or operate a nonprofit organization
Own or operate a small business
Be a community advocate
Demonstrate a genuine interest in the beautification or revitalization of Idlewild
Board members should be collaborative, community-minded, and committed to supporting inclusive economic growth.


Board Commitment
Board members will:
Participate in periodic meetings
Offer strategic input and oversight
Support Chamber initiatives and growth
Serve as ambassadors for Idlewild’s economic development efforts
